Kawartha Downs Welcomes Live Spectators

Kawartha Downs is back in the game with live spectators making their way to the horse racetrack for the first time in months. The Fraserville racing hotspot recently sold all of its 100 spots available for booking ahead of the most recent live race taking place there. Kawartha Downs Manager of Harness Racing Jim Huck confirmed this recently.

Ever since mid-March, live horse racing across Ontario has been unavailable because physical distancing was and still is an important factor for the daily operation of many businesses. Horse racing was among the fields that experienced lockdown, as the live races are the place to be for many individuals across Ontario. They make their way there and this could jeopardize their health.

Up to 100 Individuals

Towards the end of July, Kawartha Downs made it clear that the live races will be able to welcome spectators for the first time in months and this is an opportunity people should not miss. The first live race that re-welcomed individuals took place on July 25. The racetrack reopened with a maximum capacity of 100 people welcome for live racing excitement.

This has been the limit for people making their way there ever since and it will remain so for the foreseeable future. The live races have been witnessing many individuals making reservations online ahead of time and taking their seats for some exciting racing right there and then. All seats have to be booked ahead of the live racing event so that its organizers have time to arrange everything and make sure that physical distancing is implemented in the most appropriate manner.

Individuals interested in watching live the events also have to bear in mind that the reservations happen on a first-come, first-served principle. Once the 100 capacity of the racetrack is reached, it does not accept more reservations. Mr. Huck pointed out that under normal circumstances, the month of August could attract up to 3,000 individuals to a single live race.

Reservations Online

The Manager also pointed out that this change of the way the racetrack operates has had a positive impact on the harness drivers themselves. They reported feeling better when seeing actual spectators following their every move on the raceway. Even if the grandstands are occupied only to some extent, it is still a positive interaction with the horse racing fans of Ontario.

Woodbine Mohawk Park and Georgian Downs are only two of the horse racetracks of Ontario that still keep spectators away from the grandstands. They have the chance to observe everything in the comfort of their home with the help of live broadcasts of the events. Horse racing fans also have the chance to place wagers online and further support the horse people.

Individuals making their way to Kawartha Downs can take their seats on the tarmac before the grandstand and all safety protocols are being taken care of. In-person wagering is also available via self-serve betting machines and pari-mutuel tellers optimizing the process. Wagers are also accepted at hpibet.com
